Repetitive OFT-(03.04.05)

Yet again the OFT is going after one of its old favourites, the condom industry. This will be the fifth investigation in the past 10 years so they should be well aware of the issues by now. Along with buses, warranties and estate agents, this is an industry that the OFT seems to come back to time and time again. Perhaps a rule should be introduced that if an industry is investigated by the OFT then they should be prevented from looking at it again for a period of 3 years. This exception to this would be if they had in a previous report stated factors about the industry that, if they occurred or otherwise, would require the OFT to consider further action. The scope of this action should be set out in that report. If a government is serious about reducing red tape and bureaucray this would seem to be one place to start.
